Billy Starrett, lead vocals & guitar: From the modest beginnings in a Plain City, Ohio basement, Billy’s career led him to Nashville where he studied with voice coach Renee Grant Williams and was produced by Nashville’s own Dave Fowler. In addition, Billy has competed in several competitions throughout the Midwest such as local Nashville Star and the Colgate Country Showdown where he always took top honors never placing below second place. In September of 2010, Billy released his album entitled “Sinner in Me”. The album of all original music was written and recorded at Jamie O’Neal’s studio in Nashville. Billy has opened up for national artists such as David Allan Coe, Josh Gracin, Justin Moore and Jeff Bates to name a few. Billy’s background in country music and his ability to connect with audiences make him the ideal front man for this Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band.
Rob Stokes, guitar & backup vocals: Rob has been playing guitar and singing in a band professionally throughout the Midwest since he was a teenager. His love for music is rooted in the swampy sounds of southern rock though he enjoys and has played all genres of music. In the seventies Rob was in some regionally popular bands who opened for many national acts. Rob has had several of his original songs recorded for various projects, one of which was recorded by the band Ghost Rider with members from Pure Prairie League, The Outlaws and more.
Ralph Charles, guitar: Ralph started playing guitar alongside his dad at the age of 10. After playing in local bands, Ralph joined The Walter Eugene’s who landed a record deal with Star Song Records. In 1996 The Walter Eugene’s were nominated for a Dove award (comparable to a Grammy in the Christian music field) for best new rock group. Their album Beautiful had (3) songs chart #1 on the Contemporary Christian Music Charts. Ralph’s sweet touch on the guitar is apparent whether playing lead or rhythm.
John Raugh, drummer: John’s career began at the age of 13 playing in clubs and corporate venues in his home town of Columbus, Ohio. 3 days after high school graduation, he began touring all over the United States. His ability to drive the band and exciting style of play have made him a sought after drummer in many genres of music.
JT Jones, bass guitar & backup vocals: Born into a musical family entrenched in jazz, sacred and classical music, JT took his own path beginning on electric bass at age 12. He toured with a nationally known power trio in the 1970s and has recorded with 8 different bands in Indiana, Ohio and in Nashville, Tennessee. His completely distinctive style makes him a stand out wherever he plays.
Dave Nilo, keyboards: After graduating from The Ohio State University with a jazz studies degree, Dave traveled the country playing with various bands. In addition to playing, he also runs sound for a number of bands and venues. His ear for quality sound and his ability to make the keyboards sing make him an intricate part of this special band.
